ABAD, Antonio
Born in Vigo, Pontevedra, in 1953. Trained at the Vigo School of Arts and the Taller de El Prado in Madrid, he developed his artistic career in Vigo. He has exhibited continuously in solo shows since 1990 across Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Italy, France, the USA, and the USSR. He was a member of the Association Internationale Plastique Latine, based in France, where he was awarded an Honorable Mention at its 1998 International Salon. In Ferrara, Italy, he was awarded the "Diploma di Merito" at the VII Remo Brindisi Trophy. In 2000, his paintings were presented in New York to great acclaim. In 2003, he was selected to participate in a traveling exhibition of major European pastel artists throughout Italy and Saint Petersburg, sponsored by UNESCO. His pastels are held in private collections in Spain, France, Italy, Andorra, and the USA, as well as in institutions such as Banco Gallego, Caixa Pontevedra, the Vigo City Council, the Real Club Celta de Vigo Museum, and the Portuguese municipalities of Vilafranca de Xira, Chaves, Vilanova de Cerveira, and Braga.
