REYNARD RIBERA, Pilar
Pilar Reynard Ribera (Barcelona, 1930) is a prominent Catalan painter whose artistic career aligns fully with the figurative and luminist tradition of the Catalan and Levantine schools of the mid-20th century. Trained at the Sant Jordi Superior School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, she completed her artistic education in Parisian art circles, where she deepened her study of en plein air painting and European Post-Impressionism, absorbing a refined sense of composition applied to still life and floral themes. Her output draws strong influence from the intimate sobriety of Catalan still life and the textural expressiveness of late 19th- and early 20th-century painting, engaging stylistically with the chromatic meticulousness and light treatment characteristic of classical Spanish figurative art. Stylistically, the work of Pilar Reynard Ribera stands out for her masterful application of oil through a direct, rich, and texturally robust brushstroke, building floral masses and petals with impasto of remarkable three-dimensional volume and tactile density that contrasts harmoniously with the lightness and transparency of glass or ceramic vessels. Her palette—characterized by a skillful balance of warm pinks, oranges, and carmines against neutral, earthy backgrounds of academic tradition—endows her pieces with a serene atmosphere and a vivid, centripetal luminosity. Throughout her career, her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Catalan and national galleries and art venues, with her paintings represented in private foundation collections, municipal and regional cultural institutions, as well as prominent corporate and private collections dedicated to second-half 20th-century Spanish figurative art.
