SENÍS OLIVER, Enrique

Enrique Senís-Oliver was born in Valencia in 1935. In 1957, he began devoting himself exclusively to his work as an artist. By 1960, he had already held exhibitions in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Greece, and Panama. Among his many European successes are portraits of some of the continent's most influential families. In 1961, he settled in New York as a neo-realist artist, and while exhibiting in the city's top art galleries, the Harkness Foundation commissioned him to design and execute the Arch Murals around the stage of the Harkness Theater for Dance at the prestigious Lincoln Center. In 1982, he relocated to Los Angeles, where the Southern California art community quickly took notice of his talent, leading to an invitation from Mayor Tom Bradley to exhibit at the Bridge Gallery in Los Angeles City Hall. Notable among his numerous portraits are those of His Majesty King Juan Carlos of Spain, Aristotle Onassis, Greek Prime Minister Karamanlis, and Prince Michal Bin Saud of Saudi Arabia. Senís-Oliver's paintings can be found in several museums across the United States and Europe, as well as in private collections including those of Eugenia Doll, Helga Orfila, Prince Ivan Obolensky, Sir James Pearman, Mrs. J. Paul Getty, Pfizer Chemicals, Banco Exterior de España, Banco de Santander, and the Harkness Foundation.
