CASANUEVA, Vicente
Born in Jaca in 1940 and residing in Huesca since 1950. From a young age, he possessed natural talents and began studying drafting, which serves as the foundation for the technique he practices. Casanueva's pencil drawings basically reproduce locations, corners, and architectural monuments, sites and scenes that transport us to the history, memory, and beauty of our most endearing towns. In his work, we find doses of an almost romantic delight and a certain melancholy, which help to recreate a timeless intimacy or an urban landscape very close to the archaeological fact. To understand his work, one must connect with the effort that demands a perfect, clean finish, in spaces structured upon the support of chiaroscuro, displaying compositions of great luminous effect. The intensity emphasizes the results with gradations and vigorous shadows imbued with great poetic force.
