BORRELL, Jaume

Born in Barcelona in 1948. He was trained in urban environments, and more than a decade ago Borrell decided to settle in La Seu d'Urgell. In 1996, he held his first solo exhibition in Vic, Girona, and has since continued to exhibit across Spain with great success. His oil paintings on wood—sometimes featuring overlaid wooden elements that create a truly original and bold collage—invite us to look within ourselves. He achieves this through an intensely realistic body of work, depicting the traditional houses that can still be found in many parts of Catalonia, particularly in the province of Lleida. His works are held in private collections in Spain, Andorra, France, the United Kingdom, the USA, and Japan.
