MEDINA, Tomás

Born in Santa Cruz de la Zarza, Toledo, in 1940. He lived until the age of 10 in Tarancón, Cuenca, and at 17 he moved to Madrid, where he has resided ever since. His beginnings in the world of painting date back to the 1960s, being practically self-taught. His work has since been exhibited mainly in Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, and Andorra. He has received numerous first prizes such as that of the Salon International d'Arts Plastiques in Béziers (France), the Certamen de Artes Plásticas Málaga y su entorno, and the Certamen Nacional de Painting Vinos de La Mancha in Alcázar de San Juan, Ciudad Real. His work stands out for the great realism with which he is able to paint, especially when capturing the volumes of objects, which sometimes appear to be in three dimensions.
