REVELLO DE TORO, Félix

Born in Málaga in 1926. His first exhibition took place in 1938 when he was only 10 years old. At 16 he received his first professional commission for a local brotherhood. The following year he received a scholarship to study in Madrid for five years at the Real Academia de San Fernando. That same year he painted the fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary for the Brotherhood of la Sentencia. In 1950 he finished his Fine Arts degree with an Extraordinary Prize and the Pérez Madrigal Prize. Afterwards, in 1951, he twice obtained the Carmen del Río Scholarship and pursued further studies at the Academy of Fine Arts of Spain in Rome. In 1952 he held his first major exhibition at the Sala Macarrón in Madrid to great critical and public acclaim. Starting in 1953, his work began to gain international recognition. He was a professor of Fine Arts in Barcelona at the School of Arts and Crafts of Barcelona (Escola de la Llotja), and has been an honorary member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Telmo since 1987. Among the recognitions he has achieved, we can highlight: the Rafael de Penagos National Drawing Prize (1987), Golden Key of the city of Barcelona (1990), Gold Shield of the Málaga Press Association (1993), Gold Badge and Honorary Member of the National Association of Cultura Viva in Madrid (1994), Gold Medal and Favorite Son of Málaga (1995), Royal Gold Medal of the Academy of Fine Arts of Santa Isabel de Hungría in Seville (1997), Academician of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona (1998)...
