ROMERO, Esperanza

Esperanza Romero (Melilla, 1956) is a prominent Spanish visual artist and printmaker, recognized for her solid career in the fields of contemporary printmaking, graphic work, and pictorial creation. Born in Melilla in 1956, she showed a great interest in the visual arts from her youth, which led her to move to Madrid to pursue higher education. She graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, specializing in printmaking and stamping techniques, a field in which she has developed her most personal voice. Throughout her career, she has combined artistic creation with the promotion of traditional and experimental printmaking and stamping techniques. Her work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries and art centers across Spain, as well as in international competitions. Esperanza Romero's production stands out for her deep technical mastery of intaglio printmaking procedures (etching, aquatint, drypoint) and additive techniques. Her prints are characterized by an exquisite sensitivity in the treatment of textures, the play of blacks and whites, and the subtlety of geometric or organic forms. Her visual language moves between abstraction and poetic suggestion. Her compositions evoke interior landscapes, subtle architectures, or spaces of profound contemplative calm, where matter and light play a fundamental role.
