BELLOSTA, Carles
Born in Sabadell, Barcelona, in 1962. He studied pictorial procedures at the School of Applied Arts of Barcelona (Llotja) and earned a degree in Textile Print Design from the Massana School of Fine Arts in Barcelona. To pay for his studies, he worked at the La Casa de Sabadell water company, at the Bernat Metge Foundation, as a welder in the port of Barcelona, as a textile designer, and as a physical education teacher, among other jobs. In 1984, he held his first solo exhibition in Sabadell, Barcelona, and has since presented more than 60 solo shows across Spain, France, Italy, Japan, and the USA. He has won the Gold Medal from the Academy of Modern Art in Rome, the Golden Palm (Mallorca, 1996), the Golden Oscar (Gran Canaria, 1997), and the Oscar for Culture (Florence, 2001).
