RIPOLL, Maruchi

Born in Sóller, Mallorca, in 1937. She studied for several years with the great painter José Pedro Caffaro and later at the School of Arts and Crafts in Palma de Mallorca. She began by drawing, continuing with oil painting, watercolor, and sculpture. She held her first exhibition at the Syra Gallery in 1972, presented by Camilo José Cela and Cesáreo Rodríguez Aguilera. Diploma of Honor for Artistic Merit at the 19th edition of the International Gold Oscars of Communication in 1986. International Gold Liderlady 1987. Her work can be seen in the Provincial Council of Barcelona, the City Council of Palma de Mallorca, the Government of Catalonia, the Bullfighting Museum of the Las Ventas Bullring in Madrid, or the Vatican Museums (portrait of John Paul II). She is the creator of the "globalist" style, a term coined by the Andorran art collector and critic Alfred Llahí and accepted by the Dean of Spanish Art Criticism, Antonio Cobos.
