ALFÉREZ CANÓS, Emilia

Born in Barcelona in 1951 and died in Barcelona in 2007, his father, Pedro Alférez, was an illustrator and painter by profession and his first teacher. In 1959, the family moved to France, where they lived until 1969. Back in Barcelona, he studied art at the Tàrrega Academy. Starting in 1972, he specialized in textile design, an activity he pursued in Barcelona and Lyon, France. In 1982, he began his professional career as a watercolorist, holding solo exhibitions in various galleries across Spain. He was awarded the First Medal for Watercolor at the XLVII Autumn Salon of Palma de Mallorca and at the III Watercolor Biennial of the Costa Brava. His paintings are part of numerous collections in Spain, Andorra, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, England, the USA, and the Watercolor Museum, J. Martínez Lozano Foundation, in Llançà, Girona.
