DOTI, Doïc

Doïc Doti, also known as Doti de Bianya, was born in France in 1951 into a family of Catalan origin. His inclination towards the visual arts manifested naturally from a very early age. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the renowned Turner Academy. Despite this academic background, the artist considers himself primarily self-taught, having developed a deeply personal technical and conceptual voice outside strict traditional canons. His palette is characterized by the use of vivid, saturated colors through which he seeks to capture the vitality of the human experience. However, beneath this initial luminosity, his work addresses the complexity of the contemporary world and its shadows: traumatic events, the finitude of life, and major historical convulsions (such as the death of Princess Diana or the September 11 attacks). Doti's true signature style lies in his renowned "froissées" (works incorporating folded, crumpled, and textured paper or canvas to add physical relief, shadow, and three-dimensionality to the painting). His creations have maintained a steady international presence, exhibited in galleries and art spaces across cities including Barcelona, Andorra, Toulouse, Paris, London, and San Francisco.
