ANGLADA, Robert

Born in Barcelona in 1944 and died in Barcelona in 2013. He exhibited for the first time in the 1960s, being considered one of the most exciting artists of his generation. In 1962, after winning the "Young Artists Award" in Barcelona, the French Government granted him a scholarship to study in Paris. The work he presented at the Cercle Mayol of the IFB in Barcelona won a prize and was scheduled to be shown at the Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona, but it was withdrawn for being "too erotic." His work constantly reflects an inner world that feeds on the deconstruction of perceived reality, without softening its aggressiveness, eroticism, and cruelty. Critics have compared his work to that of Francis Bacon. Anglada has held numerous exhibitions across Europe, including Paris, London, Barcelona, and many German cities, even reaching Kandahar, Afghanistan.
