ROCA GIRALT, Joan

Joan Roca Giralt (1918 - 1998) was a prominent 20th-century Catalan painter and artist, recognized primarily for his pictorial work centered on landscapes, coastal scenes, and port environments. He developed his life and artistic career in Catalonia during the central decades of the 20th century, in tune with the traditional currents of Catalan figurative and landscape painting. His artistic production spans both oil and other techniques on canvas or paper. He stood out especially in the representation of seascapes, ports, boats, and coastal corners, endowing his compositions with a realistic and evocative atmosphere. Likewise, he cultivated urban views and still lifes. He was a founder of "Democràcia Social Cristiana de Catalunya," a Christian democratic party founded in 1975 in tune with José M. Gil-Robles's Federación Popular Democrática.
