
DELGADO RAJA, Antonio
Born in Águilas, Murcia, in 1928. An internationally renowned painter and portraitist with countless awards for his paintings, he has painted portraits of the King and Queen of Spain, the King and Queen of Belgium, the Prince of Asturias, the Infantas Elena and Cristina of Spain, Prince Alfonso de Borbón, the Duchess of Alba, and Nobel Laureate Vicente Aleixandre, to name just a few. An Honorary Member of the European Academy of Arts of Belgium and recognized for artistic merit and by "Arts, Sciences et Lettres" in France. He received the Special Grand Prix of the European Academy of Arts and the Gold Medal at the Bad Ischl Biennale (Austria). In 1978, the book Homenaje Académico a Delgado Raja was published, featuring dedicated verses from prominent academics such as Vicente Aleixandre, Calvo Sotelo, Antonio Buero Vallejo, Gabriel Celaya, Carmen Conde, Gloria Fuertes, and the Marquis of Lozoya—a Grandee of Spain.
