ZAROU, Victor

Victor Zarou (New York, 1930 - 2013) was a prominent American painter and artist, recognized primarily for his vibrant urban landscapes, nostalgic scenes of daily life, and mastery of the lithography technique. Born in New York City, Zarou developed a deep fascination for art and urban architecture from his youth. He trained artistically at renowned institutions in the United States, where he perfected his command of drawing and figurative painting. Throughout his career, he earned critical and public acclaim thanks to his ability to capture the romantic and bustling atmosphere of large cities, especially New York and Paris. His works are characterized by the use of warm, luminous color palettes, a dynamic stroke, and great attention to detail in the representation of streets, cafes, monuments, and passersby. In addition to his oil paintings on canvas, Zarou notably excelled as a lithographer.
