RAFLEWSKI, Rolf

Rolf Raflewski (Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 1943 - 2019) was a prominent German painter, watercolorist, and lithographer, internationally known for his neat architectural views, urban landscapes, and still lifes with a realistic and luminous stroke. He was born in Germany, where he began his artistic pursuits. Later, he completed his training at the prestigious École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and other renowned institutions in Europe, which allowed him to perfect his mastery of drawing, perspective, and color. His work is characterized by meticulous realism and great sensitivity in handling light, especially in watercolor and gouache techniques, though he also worked in oil and graphic art (lithography). He specialized in capturing the essence of emblematic corners, historic streets, cafes, and facades of major European cities—such as Paris, Venice, and German cities—as well as delicate still lifes of flowers and everyday objects. Throughout his career, Raflewski's work was exhibited in numerous art galleries in Germany, France, and other European countries, establishing a solid reputation among contemporary art collectors and lovers of detailed figurative painting.
