QUIRÓS, Fernando

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1960. The son of a painter, he had the good fortune of learning from masters like Kenneth Kemble. Between 1971 and 1974, he took drawing and painting lessons from painter Irma Beltrame, continuing his training at the Estímulo de Bellas Artes School under Pedro Malenchini. In 1977, he moved to San Diego, California, enriching his technique under the influence of 1970s American trends and classes with Jonathan Parce. In 1981, he held his first solo exhibition at the San Isidro Library in Buenos Aires. Living in Spain since 1985, he has continuously exhibited individually across Spain, Italy, France, Andorra, Argentina, Paraguay... His strong and obsessive attraction to bread—manifested in his work through the sublime language of hyperrealism—represents for him not only man's traditional nourishment, but a way to satisfy physical, sexual, and spiritual hunger.
