Golden Instant

1.200 €

Ideally titled Golden Instant and imbued with a deeply intimate and contemplative atmosphere, this masterful work created by Carles Bellosta around 1993 during his period of creative maturity presents itself to us as a true plastic jewel in a cabinet format — measuring 48 x 33 cm including the frame — where the artist materializes a twilight landscape of subtle poetic resonances in which two dark, dense arboreal masses masterfully frame a luminous center bathed in vibrant golden tones that suggest the gentle presence of a watercourse and the temporal suspension of dusk; executed through a refined technique of oil on wood, the rigid support allows the author to apply subtle glazes and material textures of great chromatic richness that enhance the luminous density of the scene, with this work being embraced by a superb textured noble wood frame featuring an oval window that acts as a protective threshold, transforming the painting into a canvas-object of an almost reliquary vocation; stylistically, the piece connects with the great tradition of introspective and symbolist landscape painting, finding deep influences in tonalist currents and in European and Catalan root luminism, with subtle echoes that evoke the sensitivity of the Sabadell School and the mystical contemplation of nature characteristic of late romantics; as an aspect of singular interest, the use of the oval format — a select and uncommon compositional solution in Bellosta's general output — confers upon the piece the character of a monumental miniature, rescuing the tradition of the tondo and the collector's cabinet to turn contemplation into an experience of paused, almost liturgical visual immersion; the solidity, technical rigor, and deep visual poetry of his career have led Carles Bellosta's creations to be integrated into the holdings of important cultural foundations, business corporations, town halls, and contemporary art museums both nationally and internationally, consolidating an artistic corpus of incalculable aesthetic and institutional value.

BELLOSTA, Carles

Born in Sabadell, Barcelona, in 1962, painter Carles Bellosta possesses a solid and rigorous academic training anchored in the great Catalan artistic tradition, having trained in pictorial procedures at the emblematic School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts of Barcelona (Llotja) and completed his specialization with a degree in textile design from the prestigious “Massana” School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, a formative background forged through a rich life journey in which, to pay for his studies, he performed the most diverse jobs that nourished his existential sensitivity, working at the water company La Casa de Sabadell, the Bernat Metge Foundation, as a welder in the port of Barcelona, a textile designer, and a physical education teacher, thus consolidating a profoundly human perspective that he transferred into his art since holding his first solo exhibition in his hometown in 1984 and launching an unstoppable career that has led him to present over 60 solo exhibitions across Spain, France, Italy, Japan, and the United States, achieving outstanding international recognition backed by such prestigious awards as the Gold Medal of the Academy of Modern Art in Rome, the Golden Palm in Mallorca in 1996, the Golden Oscar in Gran Canaria in 1997, and the Culture Oscar in Florence in 2001, merits that have placed his work within a select circuit of institutional and private collecting, with his creations integrated into the holdings of various cultural foundations, town halls, business corporations, and contemporary art museums both national and international that preserve key pieces of his authorship and reflect the continuous interest of critics and curators in a trajectory marked by technical rigor, plastic depth, and an unmistakable humanistic imprint.
