DONNAY, Jacques

Born in Visé, Belgium, in 1947. A distant cousin of the late painter and printmaker Jean Donnay, he enrolled in 1963 at the Institut Supérieur des Arts Décoratifs et Graphiques Saint-Luc in Liège, training as a graphic designer under Fernand Bree. He held his first solo exhibition in Visé, Belgium, in 1971, and since then has never stopped capturing the charm of the villages across the Walloon Region. A painter, draftsman, and portrait artist, he is not content with merely capturing the soul of the landscape. He illustrated the book Liège en flânant by novelist and art critic Jean Jour. His talent was recognized years ago, as demonstrated by his regular exhibitions in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy... as well as in Canada and the USA, particularly in San Francisco.
