Fusion II

3.200 €

Executed in 1996 in oil on canvas measuring 95 x 76 cm, "Fusion" stands as a work of remarkable maturity within the catalog of acclaimed Cuban painter Amaury Suárez, whose international stature has placed his work in prestigious private collections and global institutions, counting prominent figures such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton among his collectors and admirers. The composition represents a complex, fascinating conceptual and formal exercise where the visual vocabulary of Synthetic Cubism, Constructivism, and lyrical abstraction intersect masterfully. Utilizing musical iconography as a figurative foundation, Suárez deconstructs and rearranges the anatomy of string instruments—highlighting the pegbox, scroll, f-holes, and string lines—and seamlessly integrates them with overlapping geometric planes and architectural volumes. The work's title finds its full expression in this metamorphosis of forms, where the organic contours of the violin or cello merge with orthogonal structures and cast shadows carrying a distinctly sculptural weight. A sober, elegant, and deeply nuanced color palette establishes a vibrant range of ochers, earth tones, blacks, and grays in the foreground, creating a dramatic contrast against a glowing background of warm twilight hues rendered in rich impasto. With immaculate modeling of volume, masterful command of structural line, and refined academic drawing skills, Amaury Suárez transfigures musical resonance into visual expression, establishing this canvas as an outstanding exemplar of contemporary Caribbean art and a work of undeniable value for international collectors.

SUÁREZ, Amaury

Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1960, Amaury Suárez stands as one of the most established and technically dazzling figures in contemporary Caribbean art, whose career embodies academic excellence and plastic refinement with international reach. His rigorous artistic training began at the legendary San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana, graduating in 1980 with a specialization in Painting after mastering drawing, sculpture, and printmaking techniques. That same year, demonstrating exceptional academic promise, he passed highly competitive examinations to enter Havana's prestigious Higher Institute of Art (ISA), earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1985 and placing himself at the theoretical and formal forefront of his generation. His technical mastery and pedagogical talent led him to assume, that very same year, the Professorship of Illustration and Pictorial Techniques at the Higher Institute of Industrial and Informational Design in Havana, establishing a scholarly foundation that informs the precise structural execution of his entire oeuvre. Suárez's visual language is distinguished by a sophisticated fusion of Synthetic Cubism, geometric abstraction, and lyrical poetry centered around musical and architectural iconography, wherein material density, volume, and twilight atmosphere interact in seamless compositional balance. This formal expertise has led to exhibitions across major galleries and institutions throughout the Americas, Europe, and the Caribbean, with works preserved in premier public and institutional collections such as the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, the Headquarters of the National Choir and Orchestra of Cuba, and the Florida Chamber Orchestra Headquarters. Furthermore, the investment potential and market standing of his artistic production are reinforced by his inclusion in coveted private collections and among prominent global political, cultural, and media figures, including the residences of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, business leader and Miami Herald publisher Roberto Suárez, and renowned intellectual Carlos Alberto Montaner, establishing his canvases as highly appreciating assets and sought-after acquisitions for specialized fine art collectors.
