Geese at Sunset

650 €

This large-format work dated 1999 by artist Paco Ballesteros offers a luminous and vital journey through the bucolic and impressionistic tradition of rural genre painting. The scene features a sizable flock of geese crossing a meadow path, captured with dynamism and naturalness in full movement. Ballesteros displays remarkable technical mastery through loose, rich, and highly gestural brushwork that lends a distinct texture to the canvas surface, highlighting the vibrant whiteness of the birds' plumage in contrast with the darker nuances of their necks and backs. In the background, a row of cylindrical hay bales and lush vegetation are silhouetted against a sunset sky, where warm horizon tones merge subtly with the greens and ochres of the terrain. The piece stands out for its brilliant handling of twilight light, which creates a striking interplay of light and shadow cast across the grass, instilling a serene, optimistic atmosphere of deep communion with rural country life, framed by an imposing classic molded frame in aged gold and silver tones with a light inner mat.

BALLESTEROS, Paco

Paco Ballesteros (Valencia, 1944) is a Spanish painter, illustrator, and journalist whose career is distinguished by a strong international presence spanning Europe, Asia, and the United States. Trained in Fine Arts and Journalism, he was a private student of D. Manuel Sigüenza, a prominent member of the Valencian Luminist School, from whom he inherited a technical mastery of light and color. In the 1970s, he held his first solo exhibition in the Italian city of Rimini, where he established his studio while combining his artistic creation with work as a advertising marketing technician. Beginning in the 1990s, his work achieved significant recognition in the Asian market, placing his pieces in the Kyoto City Museum of Art (Japan) with works featuring romantic, gothic, and impressionist themes, fostering the creation of a foundation bearing his name in China, and cultivating close artistic ties with creators in Singapore and New Zealand. Likewise, he has built a solid presence in the United States with exhibitions in San Diego, Austin, and San Francisco, alongside participating in contemporary art fairs such as Art-21 and ExpoArt. His pictorial language is characterized by the fusion of figurative realism, romanticism, and impressionism, supported by a mastery of Mediterranean light and a cosmopolitan perspective developed through his frequent international stays.
