Evening Yellows

1.800 €

Executed in oil on canvas measuring 95 x 82 cm, "Afternoon Yellows" stands as a dazzling display of Mediterranean Impressionism and lyrical luminism by renowned painter Rafael Romeu. The composition chooses as its subject a quiet marina at dusk, where a row of moored sailboats with slender masts horizontally divides the scene to grant central visual prominence to the expanse of water and the sky's vibrant light. Romeu structures the work through an extraordinary study of specular reflections, capturing with effortless mastery the fleeting moment when the setting sun bathes both sky and water in rich golden, yellow, and orange hues that contrast chromatically with cool shadows of violet, azure, and mauve. The impasto-rich, agile brushwork carries a freshness that renders the water's ripple with an almost musical cadence, showcasing the artist's keen ability to synthesize ephemeral light and coastal tranquility. Rather than lingering on descriptive boat details, Romeu prioritizes sensory perception and the emotional impact of pure color as substance, elevating this seascape into a visual poem on twilight light that affirms his executive maturity and marks this canvas as a work of exceptional value for art collectors.
