Sant Feliu de Guíxols

550 €

This oil on wood work by Agustín Pardo Villodré unequivocally represents the iconic bay and urban beach of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, one of the most emblematic seafaring enclaves on the Costa Brava (Girona). The panoramic perspective captures the sweeping cove with traditional fishing boats resting on the golden sand, opening out toward the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean and framing in the background the architectural outline of the coastal town, where the iconic pointed belfry of its dome and historic quarter stands out sharply opposite the seafront promenade. The pictorial style of the piece is distinguished by the virtuosity of an impasto and vibrant brushstroke, characteristic of the finest tradition of Luminism and Impressionism of the Catalan and Mediterranean schools, featuring a masterful treatment of daylight and reflections on the water that directly connects with the influence of great masters of coastal landscape painting such as Joaquín Sorolla, Eliseu Meifrèn, or Joaquim Mir. The technical solidity of his draftsmanship and the poetic depth with which he recreates the maritime atmosphere have consolidated Pardo Villodré’s international career, having participated in prestigious events such as the Art Cannes fair, with his works featured in prominent public and institutional collections, most notably the art holdings of the Badalona Town Hall in Barcelona and the European Parliament headquarters in Brussels.

PARDO VILLODRÉ, Agustín

Agustín Pardo Villodré, born in 1945, is a Spanish artist adhering to the tradition of Impressionism and Luminism of the Catalan school, whose artistic training was consolidated within the framework of the Mediterranean academic and figurative pictorial tradition, where he developed a technical mastery based on rigorous drawing, classical perspective, and direct observation of nature, being particularly famous for his country and rural scenes and, most notably, for his Mediterranean seascapes. During his formative years, his vocation was shaped by masters of classical landscape and easel painting, drawing upon influences ranging from the luminism of the Valencian and Impressionist schools to the sobriety of Spanish lyrical realism. His pictorial style stands out for its sober and precise execution, in which the masterful use of oil paint and the sensitive capture of natural light become the true protagonists of the composition. Specializing in rural landscapes, coastal scenes, open spaces, and bucolic nooks, his work evokes the tranquility of life far from major cities, characterized by meticulous drawing, a palette rich in chromatic nuances, and a poetic treatment of the atmosphere. Throughout his professional career, the artist has exhibited internationally, including at the prestigious Art Cannes international fair, and Pardo Villodré's pictorial work has become part of prominent private and public collections worldwide, with his pieces also featured in municipal art galleries, institutional funds, and local museums specializing in contemporary figurative and landscape painting, such as the collection of the Badalona Town Hall (Barcelona) or that of the European Parliament in Brussels.
